Five stars for the bond fund ESPERIA FUNDS SICAV: C-QUADRAT Euro Investments Plus I

Vienna/London, January 9, 2017.  Thanks to the success of its investment strategy over the last few months, the C-QUADRAT UK-managed ESPERIA FUNDS SICAV: C-QUADRAT Euro Investments Plus I (ISIN LU0551316432) has been awarded a 5-star rating by Morningstar. On top of this, Bloomberg is currently ranking the fund in the top quartile of its peer group. Since its launch on October 10, 2011, the fund has generated an annual performance of 6.98 per cent and a total performance of 42.45 per cent (as per January 6, 2017).

“For our investors, capital preservation and medium term growth hold top priority. We strive to fulfill these goals and are delighted when a renowned rating agency recognizes our success,” says Matteo Pusineri, CIO and founding member of C-QUADRAT Asset Management (UK) LLP.

Managed by the C-QUADRAT team in London, the fund invests in global bond markets while placing a strong emphasis on liquidity and capital preservation. It specifically concentrates on investments that are expected to offer the best risk-return ratio for investors.

According to the fund management team in London, the fund’s outperformance of comparable products is primarily due to its accurate assessment of the interest rate trend. “In the summer, we dramatically lowered the portfolio’s interest sensitivity in response to the market environment. As a result, our investors subsequently benefitted from the rise in interest rates,” says Matteo Pusineri. Having invested in both energy producers and the mining sector, the fund was also in a position to exploit the commodity price rally.

With interest rates rising again since the US election, the fund managers expect more balanced bond markets in 2017. Although the prospect of lower tax rates in the US, potential deregulation and investment in infrastructure may make equity investments more attractive again, “we do not feel that any major tremors are imminent. Markets have already priced in a lot of the good news, but it may actually take years for a new US administration to actually implement any significant changes,” comments Pusineri.
